His & Hers Model Boats

I have a very understanding wife, I spend a lot of time huddled away in my hobby room building and tinkering, when she showed an interest I decided to make the most of it. We decided to find a nice easy build that we could both make, we would get two kits, I would do a bit, and then she would catch up…

We decided on the SLEC kit ‘Sea Nymph’ for no other reason that it appeared simple and at about £50 each wouldn’t break the bank.

I didn’t take many photos of the build, so Its straight on to the finished articles.

As it was our lockdown project, mine was named ‘Lockdown’, and as this awful pandemic took one of our good friends my wife decided to name hers after her ‘Anita’.

Anita is a brushed motor with a 10amp micro Viper ESC, wonderfully quiet, only niggle is the ESC gets a little warmer than I would like so plan to swap it out for a full size 25amp Viper, I’m pretty sure there’s the space for it.

Lockdown is a 1000kv brushless with a 30amp ESC, ideally matched, you get the ‘whine’ of the brushless motor from it so noisier than the Brushed one, both boats are using 3S Lipo batterys

We had a lot of fun building these, and are already looking for our next kits.
